A research group of Tekwon found a marine bioactive compound peptide from shark which was able to down-regulate acute inflammatory response

In the 1st issue of the Journal of Food Biochemistry 2021, Tekwon’s team reported that a marine bioactive oligopeptide extracted from shark (spotless smooth-hound) could downregulate uncontrolled inflammatory responses, and confer substantial protection from endotoxin-induced acute hepatic damage and renal functional impairment.

Tekwon research team won the 6th R&D Team Innovation Contribution Award of Overseas Chinese 

As the only selected biomedical team in Fujian Province, Tekwon won the 6th R&D Team Innovation Contribution Award of Overseas Chinese. The award was presented by Chen Zuoning, Vice President of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, on CCTV. After the meeting, the leaders and the award-winning expert teams took a group photo as a souvenir.

Tekwon’s recent research findings published with Food Science and Nutrition

By using patented technologies, Tekwon obtained two kinds of compound peptides from sharks which have capability of accelerating bone growth and strengthening bone marrow, implying great potential value for commercial application as nutraceutical ingredients. Results were published with food science and nutrition in 2020.

Nutrition is an important factor in chronic wound prevention and treatment. In a recent online published paper, we reported that orally administered compound peptides developed by Tekwon was effective to reverse malnutrition in venous leg ulcers patient that coexisted with liver cirrhosis and diabetes, and hence improve the healing rate.

Tekwon, Xiamen University and the First Affiliated Hospital of Xiamen University, jointly undertake a key project of Ocean Bureau: Industrial production and clinical application of marine bioactive peptides, which was launched recently. The investment of the project is 1.2 million USD and the execution period is 3 years.

Tekwon signed strategic R&D cooperation agreement with Avatex, a leading Canadian pharmaceutical company

On August 3rd, Tekwon’s CTO signed a memorandum of R&D cooperation agreement with the representative of Avatex, Canada at Tekwon headquarters. The two companies will take advantage of their respective patent technologies to jointly accelerate the cooperative development of new peptide drugs and their listing in the Asia-Pacific market.

Tekwon peptide products passed the CMA and SGS certification tests. The protein contents of the purified peptide powders were all over 95.5%, with an average molecular weight ranged from 500 to 800 Da determined by MALDI-TOF-MS. Microorganisms, heavy metals and other indicators have reached the expected standards.

A 1800 square metre Tekwon GMP workshop was recently established in xiamen biopharmaceutical industrial park and successfully passed the inspection of Xiamen Food and Drug Inspection Institute. All the cleanliness indicators exceeded the national standards.
